AUTOMATIC STORAGE PROVISIONING WITH ROOK ON K8S
If your K8S is on Public Cloud K8S service like AKS, your storage automation is being done for you on-demand. This is what is called ‘Automatic Storage Provisioning’.
However, is your K8S is on-premise, you do not have this luxury and you will have to create your Persistent Volumes manually. For many people this is a difficult concept to handle and formal documentation is often difficult to understand. Since there is no training on Rook that we know of, ITGilde Guru Pascal van Dam is prepared to take a deep dive with you into this topic.
In this 2 hour live virtual class on Rook, you will learn how to implement an Automatic Storage Provisioner on-premise, or even on your home K8S Cluster. We will use Rook, a seasoned storage provisioner from CNCF, which enables you delivering on-demand storage within K8S for block, filesystem and even object I/O.
IN THIS CLASS YOU WILL LEARN
- How to set up Automatic Storage Provisioning using Rook, which is a difficult job unless you know the steps to take.
- How to create on-demand storage in K8S for block, filesystem, and even object I/O, which allows AWS S3 compatible storage in your K8s cluster!
- How storage elements interact, to become capable of solving potential issues effortlessly.
This ITGilde Guru Class is designed for admins and application developers on K8S.
Admins will learn the principle of automatic provisioning, monitoring the process and troubleshooting. Developers will learn how to consume the storage in PODs of their applications.

MASTERING AUTOMATIC STORAGE MAKES YOUR LIFE EASIER
Why? Your cluster looks like a K8S cluster from the public cloud. And when you add MetalLB for the on-premise LoadBalancer and you can basically do the same things on-prem what you are offered in Azure, AWS or GCE. Even the roll-out of Helm-charts is much easier using Rook, since creating your PV’s beforehand is not necessary.
ABOUT ITGILDE GURUS CLASSES
Gurus classes are designed for open source specialists who wish to deepen their knowledge and expand skill-set on a specific topic.
Topics such as Linux memory, Kubernetes troubleshooting, Service Meshes, enhancing your security with systemd and much more. The selected topics are important for an outstanding performance, but most often knowledge that is very rarely transferred in a structured and concise manner.
The ITGilde Gurus are recognized experts in their field and share their insights with you which you can implement right away in your job.
In a session of 2 – 3 hours you learn more about the Gurus Class topic and you will be able to interact with the trainer. Afterwards you will get 3 months access to the recording which can deepen your learning.
