ITG-404: K8S4ALL ADVANCED TRAINING
Expand your experience and vision on K8S with this K8S4ALL Advanced Training, full with topics that never get explained in CKA, CKAD or other K8S classes, which will broaden your experience and vision on K8S.
AUDIENCE
This training is for Kubernetes users who want to learn more to get the most out of Kubernetes.
Prerequisites:
- You need to have followed the CKA or CKAD training and have been working with Kubernetes for at least 6 months.
CERTIFICATION
This 2-day training doesn’t prepare you for a certification, but broadens your knowledge and goes beyond the CKA or CKAD certification.
INSTRUCTOR
Pascal van Dam has been a CKA and CKAD instructor for over 3 years now. He has recorded K8S on Azure videos for MS and has architected and designed a Container As A Service platform based on K8S for ATOS.
The reason Pascal designed this training is because he experienced ‘the deeper magic’ is never touched upon in regular training about CKA, CKAD and K8S4ALL. Also, his students requested him to create another course to dive deep into CKA, CKAD and K8S topics to really understand and use their capabilities to the fullest.
TRAINING OUTLINE
- Horizontal Pod Autoscaling (HPA)
You will learn how to bring the magic to deployments. Have your deployments scale on demand.
Not only for CPU usage metrics but also for application resource metrics derived from your app. - Statefull Sets (STS)
K8S like all the other orchestrator was originally designed for stateless workloads. However, sometimes we do need to bring some state in the life of our apps. Where, when and how to use stateful sets is what you will learn in this module. - Operators
Operators are currently hot in OpenShift, but they are certainly also available in plain K8S.
What are operators? Actually operators are actually ‘you the ops guy’ but than in K8S form.
Operators let you have apps deployed on demand, have backups/restores done automatically etc..
In this module you will get to understand operators with some use cases as examples an you will learn how to apply them. - Helm
Helm is the package manager for Kubernetes. In this extended topic You will learn what Helm is about, how to deploy applications with helm, how to configure them and how to make your own helm packages. - K8S without Docker
Yes, according to the media, Docker’s finest days are over. But thanks to the CRI of Kubernetes we can swap it out for another Container Runtime Engine. In this module you will learn how to setup a K8S cluster with RKT instead of Docker. - Advanced Ingress
In this extended topic about Ingress you learn how to use Traefik 2.0 and NGINX Ingress.
How to use the new Ingress Routes instead of the Ingress Config.
How to use cert-manager together with the Ingresses etc.. - Advanced Rook (storage provisioning)
What could be more cool than auto provisioning your K8S storage in your onprem cloud? Rook has been
designed to do this for you. Learn how to install rook and how your K8S apps can get their storage from Rook. - Istio
Istio is currently a buzz word avant la lettre. But what can you do with it? What are its’ advantages over Ingresses?
Get to understand Istio with some use cases and and learn how to install and leverage Istio for your application deploys.
